Helping Secure High Quality Childcare for Federal Employees and the Community
About Us
The USNRC Child Development Center, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit child development center sponsored by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission with oversight and support from the General Services Administration. It is headed by an elected Board of Directors composed primarily of parents of students at the center.
The USNRC Child Development Center serves to select, support, evaluate, and advise on the child care center at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Two White Flint facility. Our primary mission is to improve the welfare of federal employees and the surrounding community through the operation of a high quality child care center. We do this by ensuring long-term viability of the center, upholding both our agreement with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the daycare provider, and raising scholarship funds.
Since 2004, the center has been operated by Georgetown Hill Early School, a not-for-profit schools with twelve campuses in the region. Georgetown Hill NRC is licensed by the State of Maryland Division of Early Childhood and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
The USNRC Child Development Center and Georgetown Hill work to foster a strong community and connection between parents and the center. We are proud of the work done by Georgetown Hill to provide caring teachers, engaging curriculum, excellent facilities, healthy food, and competitive rates.
Finally, one of the most important aspects of our mission consists of fundraising and tuition assistance. In order to ensure that a diverse population of children from all socio-economic backgrounds can attend the child care center, throughout the year, the USNRC Child Development Center sponsors and operates fundraisers, helping to provide tuition assistance to families in need. If you are in need of tuition assistance, please reach out to one of the Board members below for more information.
Board of Directors
As stated above, the Board of Directors heads the organization. Officers serve on two-year terms, elected yearly at our annual meeting. Additionally, the Board typically meets the first week of every month to discuss ongoing business.
If you are interested in joining the Board of Directors or just want to volunteer at events, please reach out or send us a message for further information. We strive to make ourselves available. And while we strongly encourage and support open communication between parents and the provider, we are always receptive to hear feedback and information on concerns or suggestions for improvement.
